Want to be an unstoppable juggernaut, rampaging your way across D&D combats with nigh-invincibility? These magic items might help!

Sometimes the best defense is becoming an unstoppable juggernaut. When you want to bring the feeling of crashing through the enemy’s ranks like you’re in some kind of Dynasty Warriors game, there are a few different ways of accomplishing that in D&D. And it can start with the right selection of magic items.

Armor of Invulnerability

Armor of Invulnerability is probably at the top of the list for feeling absolutely unstoppable. This magic armor grants you Resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing while you’re wearing it, which is already pretty great. But on top of that, as a Magic Action, you can activate its Metal Shell ability, becoming immune to those damage types (even from magical sources) for 10 minutes at a time.

Immune to the most common damage types? Yeah, that sounds pretty unstoppable to me.

Belt of Giant Strength

The other part of being an unstoppable juggernaut is having the strength to throw literally anything out of your way. Doesn’t matter if it’s a boulder, a giant, or a trebuchet. With a sufficiently advanced Belt of Giant Strength, your character will become indistinguishable from a superhero and/or demigod, depending on where you put “normal-sized guy who can lift much, much bigger things” in your sorting.

This one is pretty simple. Wearing one sets your strength somewhere between 21 and 29, allowing you to exceed the strength cap for most mortals. Plus it makes you extremely competent in melee combat (if you’re using strength).

Horn of Valhalla

If D&D is about one thing, it is about teamwork. And even being an unstoppable juggernaut benefits from teamwork. That’s where the Horn of Valhalla comes into play.

This magical horn lets you summon anywhere from 2 to 5 (depending on the variety) spirits that use the Berserker stat block to fight on your behalf. Specifically, they follow your commands, making them a sort of extension of you on the battlefield. And anyone who can be in up to six places at once feels pretty unstoppable to me.

Potion of Heroism

Part of being unstoppable is being able to make saving throws and have hit points for when those pesky non-bludgeoning/piercing/slashing attacks come your way. And a Potion of Heroism addresses this. One chug of this potion and you’ll not only gain a suite of temporary hit points, you also gain the effects of an hour-long Bless spell, no Concentration required. Who wouldn’t want to add a +1d4 to basically everything?

Shield of the Cavalier

This magical +2 shield feels like the epitome of a juggernaut’s panoply. In addition to granting you a total of +4 to your AC, you can use this Shield whenever you take the Attack Action, hitting with the strength of a +2 Greatsword with the added benefit of hurling your enemies 10 feet away or possibly knocking them prone, because you’re so unstoppable.

And you can make your allies unstoppable too, thanks to a Reaction that lets you use this shield to create a protective field that can completely negate an attack or area of effect and then render your allies invulnerable (as long as they stay near you) for up to a minute at a time.
