Free League Publishing has expanded their third-party open game license to include a total of five RPGs from their core lines, the company announced.
In 2023, after the WotC D&D OGL 1.1 leaks (see “OGL 1.0a Abides“), Free League offered up the Dragonbane RPG as a third-party open license (see “OGLs“). Later on, in 2025, they released the open license for Coriolis: The Great Dark RPG (see “Open Game License for ‘Coriolis: The Great Dark’“). Free League has now expanded their open license to include Forbidden Lands, Symbaroum, and Coriolis: The Third Horizon. These new open licenses, as well as the previously announced licenses, will be royalty-free and irrevocable as long as creators adhere to the terms of the open license.
“Roleplaying is a uniquely creative hobby,” said Free League co-founder Tomas Härenstam. “As publishers of roleplaying games, we know that the real magic happens in the imagination of the players. We can’t wait to see what stories and worlds our great community will create using these licenses.”
Free League Publishing also recently revealed The Fractured Library & Other Tales, a new adventure anthology book for Coriolis: The Great Dark RPG, which is now on preorder (see “‘Coriolis: The Great Dark’ Adventure Anthology“).
