Three Miniatures Game Lines Could Get a Boost from Hollywood Blockbusters this Year

In 2025, the miniatures category experienced some level of turbulence due to tariffs, but ended the year on a positive note with major companies showing growth (see “Solid Growth in 2025“). This year, certain miniatures lines are likely in for a cross-promotion boost over the course of the 2026 summer movie season (see “Best in Shows — 2026“). Three miniatures lines, in particular, seem very well positioned to capitalize on major movie releases:

Star Wars: Legion. On May 22, 2026, The Mandalorian and Grogu hits the big screen (see “Mandolorian & Grogu“). The Mandalorian was one of the most successful Disney+ series ever, and this popularity is expected to transfer over to box office as well as merchandising for the movie. Star Wars: Legion is poised to see an uptick in popularity as wargamers try to recreate battles from the series and the new movie on the tabletop. The designers at Atomic Mass Games seem to be well ahead of this possible boost, as they have just announced a new The Mandalorian Army Box (see “‘The Mandalorian Army Box’“).

Masters of the Universe: Battleground. A new Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe movie is headed to theaters on June 5, 2026. This movie appears to be a clear departure from its Dolph Lundgren-led predecessor as it has a star-studded cast: Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms (see “‘MotU’“). The movie has a lot of potential at the box office, and in turn, Archon Studio’s MotU: Battleground miniatures game could get a boost if the movie does well. This line is now available through U.S. distribution, and seemed to be a hot game at AdeptiCon 2026.

Marvel Crisis Protocol. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is one of the most anticipated movies of 2026, and a  potential mega-blockbuster. Atomic Mass is aiming to capitalize this release with their new Marvel Crisis Protocol: Alliances push-fit miniatures boxed sets (see “‘Marvel Crisis Protocol: Alliances’ Unveiled“). The first boxed set unveiled features a Spider-verse battle with Ultimate Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Black Cat taking on Green Goblin, Spider-Slayer, Goblin Army goons, and War Goblin. This boxed set will release over the summer, right around the July 31, 2026 release of the Spider-Man movie.
