This massive LEGO Erebor/The Lonely Mountain from The Lord of The Rings includes thousands of pieces and epic scenes.

There are few more iconic fantasy settings than The Lord of the Rings. It’s a grand setting for a grand and timeless tale. It’s also a setting filled with many iconic locations, cities, and fortresses. One of the standouts among them is Erebor, also known as the Lonely Mountain. While it might not feature in the Lord of the Rings movies, it is the single most important location in The Hobbit and its movies.

Erebor was a major Dwarven city and fortress. Originally settled in the 2nd Age, it rose to prominence in the 3rd Age after the fall of Khazad-dûm. Soon, the Kingdom Under the Mountain became the capital of Durin’s Folk and the main Dwarven settlement. However, in T.A 2770, the great dragon Smaug descended on the city and sacked it, driving off the Dwarves and taking it for himself and his horde. For around 200 years, he occupied Erebor, until the events of The Hobbit reestablished the Dwarven Kingdom.

LEGO Erebor

Builder Michał Kaźmierczak (also known as migalart) has brought to LEGO life a stunning rendition of Erebor. This build, which took around 7 months to build includes over 55,000 parts. Its a huge build measuring in at 1,6 meters x 1,4 meters x 1 meter. I’m pretty sure that makes the build bigger than a Hobbit (or bigger than a Proudfoot for American readers). It’s a really amazing build. You can find migalart and his work here.

This build mainly focuses on the massive and iconic front gate of Erebor. This is a major location in the Battle of Five Armies and the build can even be modified to include part of that battle. It’s a massive and monumental build and really well done.

The two Dwarven statues are both themselves big builds, and completed uhh… dwarfed, but the rest of the build. The build also has some interior spaces on the back. For instance you have the throne room and parts of the treasure horde. There are also just a ton of stairs. There are some really impressive attempts to be movie accurate and Michał also uses a bit of effects to make the scenes really pop.

Check out a great video of the build that focuses on all the little details…

Abe is that rare thing, an Austin local born and raised here. Though he keeps on moving around, DC, Japan, ETC., he always seems to find his way back eventually. Abe has decades of experience with a wide range of tabletop and RPG games, from historicals, to Star Wars to D&D and 40K. He has been contributing to BOLS since almost the start, back when he worked at and then owned a local gaming store.
